Social value through Sustainability
We understand the impacts the construction industry has on the environment and society, and we are working together with our people, our neighbours, and our local businesses to build stronger, more resilient communities and local economies. At Speedy Hire, we believe that society should also profit while business is being done.

Creating Social Value
Closer to charities and communities
With colleagues working all over the UK and Ireland we touch the lives of thousands of families and hundreds of local communities. Core to what we do is our responsibility to be a force for good and to have a positive social impact in the communities in which we work, recruit and train. Every year we continue to support our corporate charity partners through donations, fundraising and volunteering.
Harnessing our Speedy Spirit
Every year we support our colleagues to get out and about into the community to support the causes they care about, From marathon relay treks from John O’Groats to Land’s End that raised over £20,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust to local litter picking events.
Boosting local businesses
As part of our commitment to build more sustainable supply chains as a customer, we actively seek to support local businesses. We are proud that more than half of our supply chain spend at 59% comprises micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (‘MSMEs’) equating to £16 million of social value created in local economies across the UK and Ireland.
Calculating our social value
Working with specialist advisor, Thrive, we have adopted a new framework – Impact Evaluation standard aligned to government guidance to systematically and transparently measure the social value we generate.
