Accelerating Innovation
Our Goal is to be the Green Icon of Hire
Hire is built for sustainability.
This decade, we’re going to make hire even more sustainable than it already is by working even harder with our customers, suppliers and innovators to push for even better designed products: built to last, expanding the repairing, refurbishing and retrofitting of our products.

Delivering a Hire Revolution
Hire is built for sustainability. Why buy products when you can hire state of the art kit and reduce your environmental impact? With circular economy thinking at the heart of our business model we’re working hard to make hire the norm through Net Zero circular innovation and expanding the repairing, refurbishing and retrofitting our products to reduce carbon emissions and waste.
We’re working closely with our suppliers and investing in eco technologies such as battery, solar and hydrogen and sustainable fuels, to help reduce our and our customers carbon emissions and improving air quality for our local communities.
We’ve been making Hire even more sustainable on our journey to be the Green Icon of Hire and are now rated as a ‘Gold’ equipment and tool hire provider by the Supply Chain Sustainability School. Check out our progress highlights below.

Making Hire even more Sustainable
Our priority is to phase fossil fuels out of kit to we can help create a cleaner greener world by decarbonising construction. Our eco roadmap commits us to transition 70% of our itemised hire assets to eco products by 2027 and we are well on our way to achieving this.
Sustainable Supply Chains
We collaborate with suppliers to align to the ISO20400 sustainable procurement standard by 2025 meaning all our goods, products and services will be sustainably sourced and uphold fair labour practices. We are members of the Supply Chain Sustainability School Modern Slavery Working Group and align to the highest modern slavery and human rights standards and undertake thorough due diligence through our operations and supply chain. Read more about our modern slavery and human rights programme below.
Racing ahead on recycling
We continue to be a zero-waste-to-landfill business and are racing towards increasing our recycling from 57% to 85% by reducing waste across our operations and working with our suppliers to minimise packaging.
No wasting water here
With water shortages becoming an increasing risk from climate change we are installing automatic water meter readers across our property estate to monitor our water use and reduce consumption. Check out our progress in our FY2024 sustainability report.
