Speedy Hire Partners with Prostate Cancer UK to Drive Awareness Across the Construction Industry

1 July 2025

Speedy Hire, the UK’s leading provider of tools and equipment hire services, is proud to announce a new charity partnership with Prostate Cancer UK. Together, they are launching a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of prostate cancer across the construction and hire industries, as well as among the families and communities connected to them.

Following Men’s Health Week (9th to 15th June), the partnership aims to tackle the silence and stigma that often surrounds prostate cancer. The disease affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, and with over 85% of the construction workforce being male, this campaign focuses on reaching those most at risk.

However, the initiative is not just aimed at men. Whether it’s a partner, daughter, friend, colleague or sister, awareness among women and families is equally important. Encouraging conversations and supporting loved ones to find out their risk of the disease and what action they might need to take could ultimately save lives.

As part of the campaign, Speedy Hire will be travelling across the UK to visit customer sites, depots and major events. The initiative will include awareness activations and fundraising activities including merchandise sales and competitions. At the end of the campaign, one lucky winner will receive a brand-new 2025 Ford Transit Custom van through a national prize draw.

Speedy Hire is an Official Partner of the British Superbike Championship, and launched the campaign at the last round held at Snetterton racing circuit on the 20th June.

Andy Johnson, Health and Safety Director, at Speedy Hire, said:

“This partnership reflects our commitment to protecting and promoting the wellbeing of our colleagues, customers and communities. Prostate cancer affects thousands of families every year, many from the construction sector. But it’s not just about men, it’s about the people who love and care for them. We’re proud to use our national profile in the industry to start more of those crucial conversations.”

Chris Jarrett, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said:

“We’re delighted to be working with Speedy Hire, with this partnership giving us a brilliant opportunity to engage with more men across the UK and to start more life-saving conversations about prostate cancer.

“With Speedy Hire’s reach across the construction industry and beyond, partnering with them will help us continue to speak to the men who need us most about their risk of the disease, which affects 1 in 8 men in the UK.

“We’re hugely grateful for Speedy Hire’s support and look forward to working alongside them this year.”
