Speedy Hire, a UK leading provider of tools and equipment hire services has officially launched an industry first Green Claims Policy, reinforcing its commitment to responsible marketing and sustainability leadership across the UK hire sector. As a proud signatory of The Anti-Greenwash Charter, the company is taking bold steps to ensure every environmental claim made about its products, services, and operations is accurate, evidence-based, and legally compliant.

The new policy outlines a comprehensive framework for verifying green claims, supported by third-party audits, a verified claims database, and a glossary of defined sustainability terms. It applies to all Speedy Hire employees, contractors, and partners, ensuring consistency and accountability across the business.

Our ambition is to become the most efficient and sustainable UK hire business,” said Amelia Woodley, ESG Director at Speedy Hire. “This isn’t just about compliance, it’s about leadership, and by publishing this commitment we’re setting a new standard for how sustainability is communicated in our industry.

Key highlights of the policy include:

  • Verified Claims Database: Collaborations with trusted third-party verifiers ensure all claims are substantiated and aligned with lifecycle principles.
  • Editorial and Visual Standards: Strict guidelines govern the use of imagery, colour, and language to prevent greenwashing and misrepresentation.
  • Training and Governance: All marketing and communications colleagues undergo annual training, supported by a Marketing Campaign Governance Framework and quarterly policy reviews.
  • AI and Compliance: While AI is not yet used in content creation, Speedy Hire has committed to rigorous oversight and transparency when it is introduced.

The policy also introduces an escalation procedure for stakeholders to raise concerns and a public-facing declaration to reinforce Speedy Hire’s transparency pledge. Additionally, the company will share the policy with suppliers and agencies to encourage broader adoption of responsible practices.

Charlie Martin, CEO at The Anti Greenwashing Charter who supported Speedy Hire through the process of creating the Green Claims Policy said:

"Speedy Hire’s Green Claims Policy sets a powerful example of what responsible sustainability communication looks like in practice. By embedding verification, transparency, and accountability at every level, they’re showing that credible environmental leadership starts with how we communicate. We’re proud to have supported Speedy Hire on this journey and to see them raise the bar for responsible communication across the industry."

Speedy Hire’s sustainability governance is built on strong foundations, including double materiality assessments, stakeholder education campaigns, and quarterly audits. The company’s eco product range now accounts for over half of its revenue, with a target of 70% by 2027.
