The K41 LED area floodlighting system aims to minimise light pollution at work sites
Speedy Hire, the UK’s leading provider of tools, equipment, and plant hire services, has launched a new, more sustainable lighting system aimed at supporting construction workers. The K41, developed in partnership with Ritelite Systems, the British manufacturer of LED lighting solutions, is designed to meet the evolving needs of nighttime work sites by minimising light pollution through optimised power efficiency capable of achieving extended periods of use on a single battery-powered generator.
Responding to a lack of energy-efficient lighting solutions available for the construction sector, the K41 creates more light with less energy input. This innovative approach is achieved through incorporating innovative automation technologies such as automatic activation and programmable sensors that allow workers to maximise energy efficiency and operational control. For example, the light can be set to operate at full power for 10 minutes upon activation, then reduce to a lower output (e.g., 10%) for a set duration before switching off entirely.
In contrast to the larger, fixed tower lights traditionally used on sites, the K41 is also a flexible and highly portable system, providing more adaptable use for a range of applications. Workers can operate in better-lit circumstances, improving overall efficiency and safety while simultaneously improving sustainability credentials, which has become increasingly important for national infrastructure projects.
The product was recently unveiled at Ticket to Innovate, a brand-new industry event hosted by Speedy Hire and Ritelite Systems that gathered leading companies to explore the latest innovations helping the rail industry accelerate towards Net Zero. Field tested by Speedy Hire through end users, the K41 will be deployed across large-scale sites with hopes to be included in the national infrastructure kit and wider.
Commenting on the launch, Daryl Doherty, Rail Director, Speedy Hire said:
“The K41 represents a significant step forward in lighting innovation, designed to meet the sector’s unique needs with greater efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability. At Speedy Hire, we are committed to providing and driving cutting-edge, environmentally sustainable solutions for our customers, and we are excited about future innovation to help the sector achieve Net Zero.”
Marcus Batty, Managing Director, Ritelite Systems Ltd, added:
“The K41 is a fantastic example of the collaborative work between Speedy Hire and Ritelite to create improved equipment. Our goal was simple: to ‘achieve more from less’- delivering a more illuminated work area and greater flexibility of light output while using less power, less weight & less size. This is not the first product to come from our collaborative approach, and it certainly won’t be the last.”
