Speedy Hire Achieves Hires First PAS2080 Verification – A Major Milestone in Construction Carbon Management
10 April 2025
Speedy Hire, a recognised UK leader in sustainability, has become the first UK & Ireland hire company to implement a PAS2080:2023-third party verified carbon management system, cementing its leadership in sustainability across the construction sector.
PAS2080 is the globally recognised standard for managing carbon in infrastructure and the built environment. By aligning its operations with this framework, Speedy Hire is enabling customers to better baseline, assess, and reduce carbon emissions across project lifecycles.
The verification validates the company’s ongoing investment in transparent, accurate, and accountable carbon management – and supports the delivery of its wider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
Matthew Pygott, Head of Net Zero at Speedy Hire, commented:
“Achieving a third party verified PAS2080 management system is a significant step forward in our mission to help customers decarbonise. It reflects the depth of our commitment to carbon transparency, responsible supply chain collaboration, and measurable environmental impact. Through this, and our wider carbon intelligence services, we’re empowering our customers to deliver lower-carbon projects, more efficiently and confidently.”
Speedy Hire’s PAS2080 carbon management system is independently audited under an existing agreement with sustainability consultancy Auditel, ensuring continued integrity and compliance with best practice.
Mark Miller, PAS2080 Auditor at Auditel, commented:
“Auditel conducted the validation / verification of the Speedy Hire PAS 2080:2013 Carbon Management System. We were able to verify compliance to PAS 2080 and also integration across other sustainability systems within Speedy Hire. It is our opinion that this marks a significant level of commitment and vision for the decarbonisation of their value chain. Congratulations to Speedy Hire on an exemplary example of PAS 2080 decarbonisation in action”.
The PAS2080 certification complements the recent launch of Speedy Hire’s Carbon Reporting Tool, providing a comprehensive solution for emissions tracking, product benchmarking, and data-driven decision-making.
Together, these initiatives position Speedy Hire as a pioneer in sustainable hire services – helping the construction industry meet increasing regulatory, investor, and community expectations.
As part of its ‘Decade to Deliver’ sustainability strategy, the company has committed to ensuring that 70% of its core fleet will be eco-products by 2027 and is targeting a reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030.
