Speedy and Amco Giffin Carbon Reduction Initiative

3 February 2022

Climate change is a major threat to our way of life, but Speedy, in partnership with Amco Giffen are leading the way in sustainable site development.

Their work at this site in Wrexham, which used HVO fuel and battery storage unit technology, shows how sustainable improvements can be made.

Speedy Hire partnered with Amco Giffen to deliver a carbon reduction initiative focused on making construction projects more sustainable.

The project introduced cleaner equipment and low-emission solutions across a site in Wrexham. HVO fuel was used across the site to optimise delivery without harmful discharge. HVO fuel is a great alternative to red diesel, coming from renewable materials. The use of HVO in vehicles and equipment helped Speedy Hire lower carbon emissions and ensure clear exhaust emissions, especially in busy and residential areas like Wrexham.

In addition, battery storage units are utilised to improve energy efficiency across operations and reduce noise pollution.

Working together, Speedy Hire helped Amco Giffen achieve over 90% reduction in carbon emissions and nearly 50% lower fuel consumption.

This initiative highlights the growing importance of sustainable solutions in the construction industry and sets a benchmark for future projects aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.
