Speedy - the UK's leading provider of equipment rental and support services - has announced that demand for paperless invoicing has doubled since 2008.

The business reported almost half a million electronic invoices have been sent to Speedy customers following the development of the paperless system two years ago with Causeway, Coins ETC and Burns e-Commerce Solutions, e-Trading services designed to streamline the transaction process for both customers and suppliers.

Electronic invoices are provided in either sterling or euro, which ensures Speedy customers throughout the UK and Ireland can make use of the service.

The company is keen to receive all invoices from its suppliers by the same means, with 50 per cent currently received electronically, Speedy aim to increase this to 100 per cent in the near future.

Speedy says that the rise in customers choosing electronic invoicing is due to an increased awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of switching from traditional paper.

Speedy e-Trading services have been extended to also support the provision of Advanced Shipping Notifications that are used to create orders in the customers Coins system that subsequently are used to match against invoices. This capability adds real benefit by reducing administration required post receipt of invoice allowing auto-matching of invoices.

Speedy is the only hire company to support this capability in conjunction with construction system supplier Construction Industry Solutions (COINS).

James Fleming, group IT director at Speedy said: "Paperless invoicing is not only greener, but more efficient for both our customers and our business. An increasing number of companies are providing electronic services to cut back on resources used and save time which can be spent on more valuable areas."
