Speedy Creates 'Contractors' Village' For Stratford City

Stratford City is one of the largest retail–led, mixed-use construction projects in the UK, set to become a world–class example of urban regeneration.

Located next to the site of the 2012 Olympics, the £1.45 billion Westfield Group development will provide 1.9 million square feet of retail, leisure and entertainment facilities plus offices, hotels, housing, community facilities and landscaped public spaces.

The Challenge
The scale and complexity of the Stratford City project – along with its location in a densely populated area of east London meant providing a unique solution to provide accommodation and rest areas for the contractors and subcontractors working on this project.

The Solution
In a UK first, Speedy has provided a fully facilities managed Contractors' Village for office staff. Speedy offers management, cleaning, maintenance, receptionists, communication facilities – all the services normally associated with a permanent office. The Village houses 208 workstations as well as reception spaces, meeting rooms, eating areas and toilet facilities.

Ian Lister, UK Logistics Manager, Westfield, said: "The contribution made by Speedy has been invaluable to the logistics of the site, giving contractors a convenient base from which to co-ordinate this complex, urban regeneration project scheduled to open in March 2011. It has also been a real plus for the contractors to be able to rely on Speedy to keep the facility to a high standard, so that they can just walk in and get straight to work"
