Speedy Training can deliver the training your people need to do it right every time. Adding value to your workforce and enhancing individual confidence, loyalty and performance.

Speedy have specialist training locations throughout the UK and also offer on-site courses and can arrange venues to suit your particular needs.

Funding

In today's workplace Health and Safety is not only important but essential.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act, workplace competence must be clearly demonstrated.

In construction and construction related activity, CSCS and CPCS cards are required to obtain access to building developments both residential and commercial.

With recent changes to the card schemes, your employees will not be able to gain a full competence card in any occupation without the achievement of the relevant National Vocational Qualification. NVQ's are designed specifically to demonstrate occupational competence in the workplace. NVQ Level 2 is the Government's target minimum level of qualification for the entire UK workforce by 2011.

To assist companies to reach this goal the Learning and Skills Council introduced "Train to Gain" funding to subsidise the cost of adult learning and qualifications. Train to Gain is available to Employers of all sizes, across all industry sectors.

Don't let your workforce miss out on free qualifications they are entitled to. To find out more information about the Train to Gain service visit http://www.traintogain.gov.uk or for construction related qualifications contact 0844 561 8830.

New Records Technology

Training documents, CSCS information and photo ID, can all be stored on a central database to then be viewed via an internet connection whether you're on-site or in the office. This new service from Speedy provides a wireless high speed broadband and telephony service to sites across the UK.

The service is not reliant on the major providers in the UK meaning we can deploy quickly, and with our background in construction we understand the pitfalls and requirements of you the customer.

The system when installed provides a data connection that can be programmed and set-up to accommodate any IT need for your business, whether this is EDGE router or VPN facilities to a basic route to the internet. The phone system is VOIP, meaning remote management by us and total flexibility for you.

With these systems in mind and now exclusively available from a hire company we can also provide systems to aid the management of your business and personnel for HR functions.

Booking and Payments

Once all the details of the course, the location and time have been agreed, if you don't have an active Speedy account, the booking is confirmed on payment of the course fee. Speedy account customers may use their account and the booking will be confirmed upon registration for the course.

As previously mentioned, many courses are eligible for funding support and we will be happy to advise on this and help to secure any payments or subsidies available. (more specific info - call Helpline on 0844 561 8830).

Working in Confined Spaces

On average, work in confined spaces kills 15 people every year in the UK across a wide range of industry sectors. Specific, detailed and frequent training is necessary for all people working in, or responsible for people who work in, confined spaces.

The combination of knowledge, experience and purpose built training facilities delivering a practical hands-on approach to this subject make us the first choice for many.

We include City & Guilds and MOD approved courses as well as regular public courses at our regional safety training centres.

New Roads and Street Works

New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) training is a necessity for any employee who may be involved in working on, or adjacent to the public highways.

Speedy offer the full range of modules from cable avoidance to excavation and reinstatement for Operatives and Supervisors. For further information on Street Works qualifications and City & Guilds Unit accreditation call or download our newly featured course outlines now available!

Asbestos Training

Asbestos has been identified as the single biggest industrial disease. It is classified as a Class 1 carcinogen and currently, in the UK, it accounts for more than 5000 deaths per year. It is widely predicted that the figure will rise to around 10,000 deaths per year in the UK alone.

It is now widely recognised that the key to prevent future exposure lies with managing asbestos and increasing the general awareness of the problem amongst anyone likely to come into contact with it. A survey by the Health & Safety Commission identified approximately 1.8 million people who are liable to disturb asbestos on a regular basis via their routine work activities.

First Aid and General Safety

Some training in First Aid is useful for everyone and the nominated "first aider" needs to be trained in accordance with current legislative requirements. We offer an extensive range of courses designed to cover most general health and safety issues your staff are likely to encounter.

Open courses are available at all our training courses throughout the year or can be arranged at any work venue you nominate.

Specialised Plant & Machinery Hire

In conjunction with training specialists and many of our leading equipment suppliers, we have a comprehensive range of courses covering virtually all plant and machinery used in construction.

Many Plant Operators working in construction will have red cards that are due to expire or have expired. In order to obtain their blue/green card they must have logged 300 hours operating experience per category and completed the relevant N/SVQ. Our advisers will be happy to advise you how this affects your business and what needs to be done to convert to a (blue/green) competence card.

Professional Development

Speedy also offer a range of courses and executive coaching for personal and professional development including, Leadership, Management, Sales, Stress, People, Team, Public Speaking, Fears, Phobias and Personal Skills. Under current government training initiatives, some of these courses are also eligible for funding subsidies.
