The tool hire division is the largest individual part of the Speedy organisation and has grown organically and by acquisitions: most recently with the acquisition of Apollo Hire Centres, and in 2007 with the company's largest ever acquisition of Hewden Tools.

The Tool Hire division is regarded as the traditional heartland of the business. It meets more of Speedy's customers than any other division, every working day and it is where we have earned our reputation as a 'can do' organisation that puts customer needs ahead of everything else.

Tool Hire operates a nationwide network of depots. That means we are never far from our customers' sites and can offer a huge range of equipment. In fact our fleet consists of more than 1000 different products including specialist equipment for welding, fencing & decking, light plant and access equipment.

Our investment of over £300m >a year ensures that equipment is not only clean and well maintained but represents the latest in technology - optimising performance, safety and environmental integrity.

But that's only half of the story. It's no good having great kit if you don't know how to work it or you can't get it to the customer on time. With over 1,800 delivery vehicles within our fleet, we can guarantee a local, quick delivery service to your site or application. The Speedy van is a familiar site to motorists on many of Britain's roads and they're driven by men, and a few women, who are dedicated to getting the right equipment to the right place at the right time. Whatever it takes.

Their training ensures that they have a good working knowledge of site tasks and understand the equipment, how it works, what it does and most importantly safe operating procedures.

Health & Safety drives everything we do, from sourcing the latest and safest equipment to organising customer training sessions on legislation or toolbox talks for site workers on subjects like Working at Height, Manual Handling, Hand Arm Vibration and Dust Control.
